1. What watches do you currently own?
That’s the beauty of having my own pre-owned watch business—I have access to over 3,500 watches! Right now I’m wearing a yellow gold Yacht-Master 16628 in an attempt to hang on to the last memories of summer.
2. Currently, what is your favorite watch that you own and why?
My favorite watch was probably the rose gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak on black leather. I loved that watch.
3. What is your grail watch and why?
I keep looking at blue dial Patek Philippe Nautilus’ when we have them—you know, the simple time-only 5711/1A—but they sell so quickly I never get a chance to grab one!
4. In your opinion, what is the best “bang for the buck” watch available today? (new or used)
Depends how you look at it. For an outright bargain, Longines can’t be beaten, especially at pre-owned prices. Superb quality, affordable price—the whole package. From a resale point of view, however, any stainless steel sports Rolex will do. Buy pre-owned, hang on to it a for a few years, sell and cash in. That’s bang for the buck.
5. What is the URL of your watch website, when did you start it, and how do you plan on making it stand out?
It’s watchfinder.co.uk. I co-founded it in 2002, and as far as standing out, it’s a continuous effort. We’re constantly moving the business forward, be it increasing our levels of stock, adding locations for customers to visit, or improving our manufacturer certified service centre — and many other things besides. Our focus is to make Watchfinder the only place a watch enthusiast needs to visit, and that’s what we’re doing. We’ve had our videos go viral (2.3m hits and counting!), our magazine get nominated alongside GQ, and our knowledge sought from all corners of the globe by the media, so we’re getting there!
